Albert Edward Shepherd (Oddy)

  General Notes:

Birth recorded as Albert Edward Oddy in September Quarter 1893, 9B, Page 195 of the North Bierley District of West Yorkshire. Albert was adopted. A family story records that he was selected by his adoptive father because he was laughing in the orphanage. He is reported to have said that any child who could laugh in a place like that he wanted to take home. The orphanage was probably the workhouse.

Albert married Ada Elizabeth Hunton, daughter of George Mitchell Hunton and Ann Francis Thorpe, on 19 Apr 1919 in St Wilfred's Church, Lidget Green, Bradford, Yorkshire, England. (Ada Elizabeth Hunton was born in 1895 in Bradford, Yorkshire, England and died on 14 Jun 1978 in Harrogate, Yorkshire, England.)
